in-between-the rooms

Is this a corridor?

It looks more like a square.

Do corridors need to be long?

It’s in-between my room, the toilet, the shower and my roommates room.

Sometimes we encounter each other in the morning. I am between sleep and good morning.

Sometimes I wait until she is gone before I exit my room.

Is my room my home?

Is the whole apartment my home?

I do not leave my towel in my in the bathroom. No one leaves anything out of place.

There is no table in the kitchen. There are no chairs. I do not feel comfortable using the kitchen after 11 p.m. My roommates go to bed before 11 p.m.. I don’t want to disturb their sleep. I go to bed after 1 a.m.. Sometimes I eat at night. I sneak into the kitchen. I think: what if they saw me eating at this hour?

They always eat at 6 p.m.

There is no table in the kitchen. Sometimes we meet and chat. I am washing dishes and my roommate cooks. There are no chairs and we chat. in-between the rooms.

The kitchen’s function is to store and cook food.

The kitchen’s function is to share food.

The kitchen’s function is to do my homework.

It is to dance and sing while waiting for the water to boil. it is to host a party in a party. it is to confess my deepest fear while my best friend is preparing tea. it is to whisper squeezed together between stove and fridge and sink and laundry and table and chairs.
