My dear human,
Welcome to this virtual public space.
I have been waiting for you and I am very happy that you are taking a moment to linger around here.
I would like to share an investigation on Dramaturgy through the lens of Poetics, a module that took place in the framework of Master of Theatre Practices at ArtEZ University of the Arts, in January 2020.
.
.
Let’s talk about words
dramaturgy > drama + ergon –> how does drama (performed action) work/function?
poetics > adjective deriving from the Greek verb ποιῶ = to make –> making, coming into being
temporality > a perception of time, a quality of time
alternate > that which departs from the normative in terms of perception, experience and multiplicity
time … I don’t know
.
.
What is it about?
How can alternate temporalities come into being in public space through the medium of theatre?
How can a game-structure function in public space and allow for the emergence of individual temporalities of players and passers-by?
Game-structures through the lens of wasting time
Wasting time as subverting the temporality of productivity
How can I waste time?
playing games
reading
walking
Quantitative time –> time perceived as measurable
Linearity –> a perception of time wherein time flows in one direction from past to future
Qualitative time –> time perceived as non-measurable
Attempting non-linearity: associative connections of words and incidents
.
.
That was a lot of information
I am going to pause
for a while
stop typing
close my eyes
Let’s
do it together
pause
close your eyes
for a while
.
.
.
How long is a while?
I don’t know I did not count
