an egg on my balcony next to the traffic lights

My dearest human,

I have been expecting you and I am truly thankful that you decided to share your time with me on this virtual space.

For some time now, questions about living and working in a city nowadays have been troubling me. Sometimes, I stand at a traffic light waiting for it to turn green and I wonder how many cars drive past me. Some evenings after work, I stand in the kitchen waiting for the water to boil inside the pot and I find myself asking what else I could do in these five minutes. And then, an alarm clock goes off or I hear the sound of a notification. What time is it?

My dearest human, I am very happy to share these questions with you.

Welcome to the second part of the performance

I would like you to use an alarm clock. After reading the four blocks that follow (>>>00 to >>>20), set four times on your alarm clock: 5 min., 10 min., 20 min and 35 min. For example, if it is 17:00, when you read this, set your alarm clock to ring at 17:05, at 17:10, at 17:20 and at 17:35.

>>>00. Then, find a comfortable position for you in the space. Close your eyes and think in detail of everything that you have done today (it might be things like “I declared my love to somebody” or “I made breakfast” or “I put my socks on”…).

>>>05. When the alarm clock rings for the first time, abandon this stream of thought and embark on another one. Think in detail of all the places that you have been today. If you stayed at home, physically revisit all the rooms, spots and corners of your home where you passed through or lingered today.

>>>10. When the alarm clock rings for the second time, abandon this stream of thought and embark on another one. Close your eyes and think in detail of all the things that occurred yesterday and all the places you went to. Restrain from thinking about them in chronological order. Go with whatever comes to your mind first. Restrain from thinking about them in chronological order. Go with whatever comes to your mind first.

>>>20. When the alarm clock rings for the third time, abandon this stream of thought. Find a comfortable position for you in the space. Close your eyes and listen. Listen to the sounds in your body. Listen to the sounds in your home. Listen to the sounds in your building and outside of it.

The End.

It would be lovely, if you would like to respond to my letter. You can send any thoughts about your experience in this performance to my e-mail foivpsevdou@gmail.com.

I will be waiting.

Thank you for your time,

Foivi
